"Which Path Should I Choose, and WHY?"
As talked with my good friend Tate last night over the phone I began to realize something about my current situation and my struggle with making decisions about my future. I realized, to be blunt, that I am confused, but not as many would assume. This same realization returned this morning as I sat at the Starbucks on Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan, KS talking to my friend Adam. I just couldn't shake the feeling that somehow, somewhere along the line I became confused; but what was it that I was

HOMELESS NO MORE!!!!! For the last 8 months I have been living out of cars, vans, homeless shelters, and often, quite frankly, on the streets of Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, and Seattle, BUT NO MORE. Things a horrible turn for the worst three days ago when I was removed from the homeless shelter in Kearney, NE due to a disagreement between myself and the guy that runs the place. He is a good guy, but, well, for the sake of respecting the dignity of his personhood, I will leave it at that. I

The Gospel is NOT about Prosperity
Many people tell us that when we become Christians life will be awesome, happy go lucky and just down right great. The prosperity gospel movement goes even further. People like Joel Osteen, TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar, Joseph Prince, and even Joyce Meyer make it seem like the more depravity in life we experience, the farther from God we must be. But is this really the case? Let's take a quick look at the life of the Apostle Paul. He was imprisoned numerous times. He was shipwrecked. He was

The Bootstrap Defeater Argument Part 4 (defense of premise 3)
Anything that always existed could not be part of or the same as that which began to exist. This will be both basic and simple, as it is nearly first nature to believe such a statement. After all, something that began to exist had a beginning which means that it is contingent, and something that has always existed is non-contingent. Contingent things and non-contingent things, logically speaking, cannot be the same due to the law of non-contradiction. Also, that which is contingent begins and

The Bootstrap Defeater Argument Part 2 (premise 1 defense)
If anything began to exist, something must have always existed. As one who is not a huge fan of long winded defenses of premises, I will seek to be brief, maybe even too brief for the likes of some of you. Nevertheless, my defense will be adequate and sufficient. OK, so obviously the entire argument, and the truth or falsity of this first premise, relies on the "IF" at the beginning of it. So the question then is, Did anything EVER begin to exist. Now, many would assume here that I must

Is our God really the greatest? (originally posted on 6/2/2015)
(originally posted on 6/2/2015) It is one of the primary purposes of Christian apologetics to assure the world around us that the Christian God is in fact the greatest God. For example, one of the most popular philosophical arguments used in apologetics today is the Ontological Argument. As generally (although maybe not properly) understood, this argument insinuates that God, if He exists, must necessarily be the greatest of all possible beings. So, if our God is to be the greatest, what

How Not To Argue With an Atheist
"I believe that Christianity is true because I am convicted of its truth, and because I experience the love that it entails!" This was part of the conversation that I had with a charismatic Christian in Colorado Springs a few weeks ago. He had adopted the "Theology of Love" mentality regarding his faith, which basically says that love is all that matters; not logic, not truth, just love, since "God is love." While we were talking our Buddhist and Atheistic roommate came onto the scene and
